The Lusíada Center of Research in International Politics and Security (CLIPIS) it is a research organic unit of the Universidade Lusíada that aims scientific research and dissemination in the areas of International Relations and Security Studies.
In addition to its own projects, CLIPIS will carry out other research projects in cooperation with other Portuguese and foreign universities, research centers and Think Tanks, having already established cooperation agreements and protocols, namely with the IPLI (International Policy and Leadership Institute), the IDN (National Defense Institute) and the ISCPSI (Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Internal Security), among others.
Its research will be carried out mainly in the areas of International Relations and Security Studies supporting the accomplishment of studies, allowing the debate of research results in seminars and other international and multidisciplinary scientific meetings, and promoting their publication in a journal, (Revista Lusíada de Política Internacional e Segurança), published twice a year; the Journal was already supported by the FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology).
CLIPIS has its own premises in an autonomous office belonging to the Lusíada University, which includes administrative support, one meeting room, three conference auditoriums and a Library.
It is equipped with networked computers and broadband Internet access; it has its own servers, colour laser printers, a scanner, a photocopier and a video-projector.
The structure of this Research Center is composed of two research groups: one dedicated to the study of the International Relations, with a specific focus in the Portuguese foreign policy; the other one dedicated to the Security Studies in its broader sense, namely the internal and external dimensions of Security.
At this phase the CLIPIS is composed of 11 Ph.D researchers but it will enlarge its members with foreign researchers at the subsequent phase of its legal formation.
