Once again the ESTEJO Research Group organizes, with the collaboration of FAAUL, the next seminar "Formulas in Architecture", to be held on 25 and 26 November, hereby opening a call for papers presentations and scientific posters.
Due to the current pandemic situation we are living, and the uncertainty of the constraints that may still exist at the scheduled date for the seminar, two possible modalities are proposed: virtual with zoom or presential (the format will be confirmed in due time). In either case, registration and confirmation will be required by sending the full presentation.
In this V Seminar it is intended to pursue the fostering of this didactic forum and the divulging of scientific knowledge in progress, namely research in the fields of architecture and mathematics applied to the construction of space in architecture.
The complementarity between mathematics and architecture allows a greater scope in the approach to fundamental matters, to enhance the qualities and constructive capabilities of the inhabited space.
Technological issues, namely building materials and construction technologies, constitute an important, if not fundamental, area of research for architecture, on which mathematical knowledge is becoming increasingly central to achieve results whose quality is recognized by their sustainability.
Papers should focus on the following subjects:
- Prefabricated construction/ modular construction;
- Innovative building technologies;
- Building materials, from natural to composite;
- Stereotomy of coating materials;
- Patterns and geometry in surfaces;
- Inter-relations in the areas of architecture and mathematics.
