Portuguese European Documentation Centres participate in a seminar organized by the European Commission

The European Commission’s Directorate-General of Communication held a seminar on the 4th and 5th of June (2015) for the European Documentation Centres (EDC) in which EDCs from about 100 EU Member States took part.  Portugal’s EDCs included those of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Oporto), the Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, the Universidade da Madeira, the Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, and the Direcção-Geral da Qualificação dos Trabalhadores em Funções Públicas (INA), represented by their Coordinators/Directors, Nuno Henriques, Helder da Rocha Machado, Helder Maurício Abreu Neves, Liliana Gonçalves, and Vera Batalha, respectively.

Viviane Hoffman, Director of the “Communication with Citizens”, Directorate-General for Communication, European Commission, delivered the opening address on the first day.  This was followed by a number of talks regarding the EU Historical Archives, the digital single market, access to European statistics, Horizon 2020, the EU budget, and the World Café, dedicated to the future role of the EDCs.

On the last day of the event there were presentations on the Eurobarometer, the ORBIS repository, the EUR-Lex portal, access to the EU Bookshop, the EU Open Data Portal, and access to CORDIS.

To close the event, the organizers thanked the many EDCs for their active participation.
